UK Government department, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles recently announced that electric vehicle charging schemes which provide grants to install electric vehicle chargepoints, will be reformed to provide more support to people living in flats and those in rented accommodation to accelerate uptake in those sectors.
This is great news as small businesses and leaseholds will benefit from a grant up to £50 million to install chargepoints. Alongside a consultation on improving the charging experience and reassuring the public with long journey anxiety, this should help reassure future confidence in electric vehicle purchases.
The Department for Transport has also announced that the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme, which provides up to £350 towards a chargepoint, will continue next year and be expanded to target people in rented and leasehold accommodation.
This is great news for landlords and could add value to their rental propositions and future sales.
